tl;dr

Hey!
I’m working on a new copywriting template library.
Hundreds of headline examples, frameworks, and copy-paste prompts.
Here’s a sneak peek:

And while curating examples for this new tool, I noticed that most funny headlines use one of these 10 comedic devices:
Exaggeration
Exaggerate the benefit so much that it becomes a problem.

Wordplay
Twist a common phrase to highlight two benefits at once.

Dark Humor
Break taboos to stand out as a brand.

Irony
Give the wrong advice so they find the right answer.

Inside Joke
Write a line that only your audience would understand.

Self-Deprecation
Own your flaws, sound more human.

Observational
Find the humor in everyday situations. (“Have you ever noticed?”)

Paradox
Combine two opposite ideas into one line.

Deadpan
The flatter the delivery, the funnier the line.

Double Entendre
Use words with multiple meanings to draw attention, and then pitch your product.

You made it! 🎉
